How do you improve your running speed and endurance without increasing your running mileage? A lot of people wish to run faster without feeling sluggish. The foremost obvious and ordinarily pursued way to improve race times is to simply run faster!

Research has found that running reduces the risk of death by about 30% compared to non-runners. However, running more is rarely possible with a daily schedule for the average runners (non-professionals like housewives, senior citizens, etc.) On average, runners live three years longer than non-runners. Running also helps in reducing the chances of stroke or heart disease.

Do you feel like you are slow and are unable run very far? Running more isn’t the sole solution to running faster. In fact, typically it’s not even the simplest method. There are several things the common runner can do to squeeze extra performance out of the time he or she is already devoting to running.

Coming up are some running tips to improve your running speed without improving mileage. You should start running with a slow jog for about five to 10 minutes to warm up correctly. Four simple ways to improve running speed are:

1. Fuel Up

Consumption of the proper pre-run foods is vital to stop feeling sluggish throughout your run. Select foods that will not cause cramps: select a little snack of straightforward carbohydrates with a little bit of protein if you are consuming right before a run. Try drinking a cup of coffee about half an hour before you start running as studies have shown that caffeine helps in running faster and longer.

2. Stretch

You may not think about the post-run stretching as vital for your pace goals, however, those minutes you spend cooling down will extremely facilitate your speed. Stretching gives you a lot of versatility, which may improve your stride and variety of motions. These stretches also help relax your body.

3. Do Jumping Exercises

Researchers found that replacing some running with jumping exercises helps in improving running speed.

4. Running on the Hills

There are no rules that say you must stay on ground level. In fact, there are several reasons why you shouldn’t. Running up hill helps build your leg muscles and increases your speed and endurance. Whether you run on the treadmill or outside make sure incline is a component of your routine.

It may take many weeks to make changes to your running routine but it’ll be worth it! The changes will make a world of improvement to your speed, potential or efficiency. You can run faster and for longer by implementing easy changes in your running speed and by following the above tips. So improve your speed without improving mileage and get healthy today!
